Hey Ya’ll!

My name is Olivia Lauer (also known as The Nashville Kid)! I'm 15 years old and I'm a sophomore in high school. I am passionate about music, photography, and especially my beautiful city! Nashville is a great city to grow up in. There are fantastic music venues, amazing restaurants, and interesting pockets of the city to explore. Living in Nashville provides a music lover like me easy access to lots of concerts, festivals, and live events . I love to take advantage of Live On the Green, Musicians Corner, and small house shows. I also find myself going to lots of concerts at my favorite venue, The Ryman Auditorium.

One of the great things Nashville has to offer is incredible restaurants. I often find myself spending afternoons at my favorite spot, Dozen Bakery. Dozen has great vibes, food, and friendly workers. Another favorite spot of mine is Pinewood Social. Pinewood has many fun indoor and outdoor activities to go along with their amazing food! Some activities they have include swimming, bowling, ping pong, and bocce ball. And of course Nashville has some amazing hot chicken! Most say that Hattie B’s is the best in town.

A few areas I enjoy walking around include 12 South, Germantown, Hillsboro Village, the Gulch, and the Wedgwood area. I also enjoy going on morning hikes at Radnor Lake and watching the sunsets on Natchez Trace Bridge. Some of my favorite local shops include Nisolo and Pangea. Nisolo’s Germantown showroom offers comfortable and beautiful shoes that are made in Peru. Pangea is located in Hillsboro Village and is a fun and eclectic shop perfect for gift shopping. They have a little of everything including jewelry, clothing, home furnishings and funny books.

Something I have noticed about living in Nashville is how much it has changed throughout my life. I remember when 12 South was almost a ghost town and now it is packed every time I come. I love to see how Nashville is growing. There has been a drastic increase in the variety of cultures and foods around town. Nashville is no longer known for just their honkey tonk bars and southern accents but for it’s variety of fun coffee shops, restaurants, and boutiques. Nashville has definitely become more modern but has kept it’s historic charm.

Because I am so passionate about Nashville, I started an Instagram account dedicated to this lovely city. I started The Nashville Kid January 2016 right after I had a conversation with some of my friends expressing their frustration with how little they knew about our city. Soon after, I began collecting pictures I had taken from places around town and started posting them my account. I had received some attention from other big Nashville Instagram accounts which helped boost my followers and helped spread the word about @TheNasvilleKid. Later it helped me land an internship with @NashvilleFoodFan. Working under this account has been an amazing experience. This has enabled me to be able to express my passion for our amazing city and share it with others.

The Nashville Kid is directed towards youth by promoting local brands and artists around town. I share about cheap or free activities and restaurants that kids my age can afford. Help spread the word by using #TheNashvilleKid in your Instagram posts! #livingTN
